Back in black from Florida, and am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. School isn’t that big of a deal though I want to do anything but get back into my healthy living rotine. I want to eat bad food, and not go to the gym. I’m thinking light gym this week and then good for me food next week will be easing back into it.
Other notes:
1. florida was amazing. Beach everyday until noon, then cheap but delicious shellfish, and booze out the ying yang. LOVED it. as for the weather, 80 everyday, got a nice tan, LOVE my boyfriend more then ever. All in all it was the best vacation I ever took
2. I am tan……HA
3. This semester is dangerously close to being done
4. Had prof debacle, that made me angry, and to sum involved my sister driving to my apartment to send a document in again, even though the prof had a few copies as I was in the air on the way to FL and then getting an email telling me to enjoy my vaca….growl
5. may go to ikea to buy a futon…..tax refund= me doing my part to boost the economy.
Ok I want to leave a little space to talk about starbucks. This is my grip for the day (or rather the weekend). Dear average consumer, you’re snobbery drives the economy so stop being a tool box. This is directed specifically at the crowd that replies to my mentioning starbucks “eww I love $5 coffee”
Point one: Starbucks coffee does not cost five dollars. And the insinuation that it does is very irritating to me. The coffee there costs roughly the same as it does at Dunkin Doughnuts (and does not require you to get your coffee in a stiyrophome cup, something I find very socially irresponsible). As a side note I should mention that starbucks drip coffee tastes like ass, it is brewed way too strong, losing all its flavor in favor of what they imagine is “Italian strength”. Incidentally starbucks, Italians call drip coffee café Americano (not watered down espresso like at starbucks) and a café is actually espresso. That side note being dealt with, it is the espresso based lattes and such that cost so much, though under five dollars. I have never paid five dollars for anything even if it’s the biggest size, with soy (its ok punish me for not being able to drink milk by charging me more) and extra shots. The insinuation, in light of these facts, speaks to a general attitude in people that I find especially distasteful. The idea that dunkin doughnuts is a working mans coffee falls into this as well. why do we put class distinctions on coffee? Much in the same way some conservative news outlets like to attack more liberal politicians/ legislation etc as a way of gaining support, this insinuation that people who go to starbucks like $5 coffee, is nothing more then a baseless complaint that people nonetheless stand behind as if it was written in stone by god. why? Why do your own thinking; snobs, yuppies and idiots buy starbucks. You have too much working man pride to do that. And it wouldn’t bother me if it didn’t work. Do your self a favor, go with taste.
Point two: this previous discussion leads to a bigger issue. Snobbery helps drive the conomy. My mother for instance, has it in her head that the world will benefit from being thrifty. And she’s right. However, spending money makes money spend able. I’m not saying go out and spend it. in fact I’m not offering advice at all. I’m not an economist and have no idea how to save the country. But the idea of thrifty ness has with it an inherent supplemental opinion that brand name snobbery is somewhat distasteful. My father and I, after returning from Guidos (kindof like a whole foods) with our fresh organic produce, were talking about buying food there, weight as a social marker rethought from it’s previous use (I think I’ve written about this) etc. and it led me to think that maybe there is nothing wrong with wanting only organic produce, designer bags, etc. because in times of a thriving economy it is this choosiness that keeps the economy thriving. Something to think about anyway.
But that is the heavy lifting for the day, I would ad that for those of you who would rather shop at wal-mart is giving patronage to an institution that has historically treated its employees so poorly an acceptable trade off in an effort to save money.

oh blog...i knew you well

So I am the worst blogger ever. I have neglected this blog so badly its tragic. Unfortunately law school is eating my life like a hungry man at a buffet. But I am resolute to write once a week now so that I am more inclined to do it. I may focus my subject more but that remains to be seen
First order of business: the Oscars. This year dressing wise my favorite was Amy Adams, with and honorable mention to Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway. Her Carolina Herrera was gorgeous and perfect for her coloring (love those pale ladies enbracing their pale) Ms. Cruz in Pierre Balmain, a designer I will admit I had not heard of looked fantastic as well. Both her and Anne Hathaway had very intricate and detailed designs which were a refreshing change from last years drap showing and were fun to look at.
Furthermore: Danny Boyle owned!! Hurray!! I love to see a good director acknowledged.
Ok I have too much to do to write a decent blog, but I will write again and make this stupid thing actually worth the time

blog under fire
Ok so my current LRW assignment, which has eaten a small part of my soul and a sizable chunk of my weekend, is about someone who is fired from a law firm for blogging
Gasp
Incidentally there are no worries here as nothing I will ever say will have to do with my potential work. This is because law is boring to those who don’t practice it.
Really
Good night and good luck. If you never hear from me again its because I was kicked out of law school for blogging

me vie in SNOW!!

It’s been just short of an ion, a millennia since I last wrote here. School has been just as tough as ever, the snow is on average taking up at least 4 hours of my week (I hate winter) and I’m finally at the point where if I have a second of time, I’m out because I know about the isolating depressions shut in syndrome associated with finals
A few good things on the horizon:
May go to Florida for my spring break!! Which is conveniently the same week as my boyfriends, what are the odds
I didn’t fail any classes this semester, and ended up somewhere about average to ever so slightly above.
I was fat as all heavenly hell, and just this morning realized that all of my efforts may be working
As for above, I’ve joined a new website called “the Daily Plate” where you search and track what you eat and can set goals etc. I quite enjoy it, and apparently its working.
Though yesterday was a bad day in the opposite sense one would assume. I did my Pilates, got a little ahem other exercise but had no appetite and eat next to nothing. Luckily starbucks is high cal or I’d have been very under for the day which is pretty bad, since the website currently has me eating 1400 calories a day to lose 1.5 pounds a week.
Some bad news:
This week one of my friends pissed me off royally by being inconsiderate and selfish.
Another one made me sad because she’s leaving me sniffle sniffle
Also, it has snowed again. AGAIN!! Don’t we ever get enough
Upcoming events:
Oscars: hurray!! Nominations are out and my family has cast our votes in preparation for our annual Oscar/ aunt birthday party. It’ll be fun stuff. Looking forward to the fashion. Was direly bored last year. The only person who really wore something special in my mind was Marion Cotillard. Hopes are higher for this year
Go slumdog millionaire: at this point Danny Boyle deserves an Oscar more then Chaney deserves a buck shot to the face by his lesbian daughter, during her Massachusetts wedding ceremony. Amazing film. Amazing director.
Ok that’s all calss calls. I am resolute to write more.

Who wants to be a Danny Boyle?
I went to torts today. It was pretty much awful. The four hour exam that I never could have imagined actually took four hours, took about four hours. Excruciating pain. Tears. Cramping. But when it was all over I had the honor of saying that I am now done with my first semester of law school.
Hurray!!!
That being said I think I have lost my mind. I mean really
Other notes, if you have not yet, go see Slumdog millionaire. It was amazing
Danny Boyle is amazing. I love him. And a funny side note, my sister and I joke that Danny Boyle can do whatever he wants. We even were thinking of starting a line of bracelets that say WWDBD? What would Danny Boyle do? End the world, urn people into zombies, drop a million dollars and or a duffle bag of heroin on our unsuspecting heroine.
I mention this because in the end, presumably as a nod to the Indian film culture where he had set his story, there was a very Bollywood dance number. And when my bofirned saw it he said “what?! Why is there a….oh right Danny Boyle”
Hurray!!!

Happy Birfday to me...happy birfday to me
So today is my birthday!!
I am 23
Fears about being old aside, I have decided to reflect on what 23 years on this earth have taught me as I enjoy the light breakfast I treated myself to today
1. you only get this one life, and when you really think about it it isn’t a long time. Like Chuck Palahniuk said “On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero”.
2. In regards to number 1, life is to short to eat bad food, read bad books, drink bad wine and hang out with people who suck
3. people don’t think about nearly as much as you think they do, and when they do, its never nearly half as bad as you think it is. But if it’s a lot and if its all bad things then your doing something right. Your nobody till somebody hates you, because no one wants the unsuccessful and unliked to fail.
4. dress well everyday. For starters, you will be prepared for everything life has to throw at you. And furthermore, almost all success comes through self confidence, and nothing makes you as confident as knowing you look good
5. to add to this, you are not Heidi Klum, you will never be Heidi Klum, to some degree even she isn’t Heidi Klum. And if she spent all of her time upset she wasn’t Tyra Banks, you wouldn’t find her attractive anyway, so get over it.
6. the beauty in all things comes from its uniqueness. Think of the most beautiful person in the world. Then really look at their features. I’d bet a starbucks that they are just as “ugly” as you are
7. don’t bet starbucks with your mom (this is new)
8. don’t let other people make up your mind for you. I hate my boobs. I will always hate my boobs. And for a while I struggled with the unfeminist implications of getting them “worked on”. But then I realized that putting your happiness aside so you can fit yourself into a mold, however noble, is no different then “doing what other people want you to”
9. having boobies is not a bad life goal
10. having big feet is ok
11. being dumb is ok
12. being everything but lazy and pretentious is ok
13. brown does go with black, and gold with silver, navy with black, and argile with plaid. The only rule of thumb here is if you own it; it works
14. your never too old to enjoy your birthday. Maybe I’ll feel differently when I wrinkle, but I’ve had the grays, I’ve had the growth spurts, and all I know is with every year I am smarter then the year before. Because of this I will never be afraid of getting older…….nervous, ok, and maybe I’ll whine but there is nothing but nobility in aging with grace.
15. OJ after Toothpaste tastes like ass

Sex, Drugs, and Contracts

Breakfast: Oscar’s poppy seed bagel, toasted with Phillie Cream cheese
Lunch: Thanksgiving Turkey with Cranberry sauce (wheeee) on cranberry, walnut, wheat bread.
Dinner: spinach and goat cheese salad with hot beacon dressing.
If only everything in life were as good as that right now.
I need desperately to do laundry (I may tonight)
I need to do another practice exam
I’m getting fat, and in an effort to stop this I am going to try to write down what I eat. Here are some of my general rules for the coming weeks:
One meal a day must be a salad or solely a vegetable.
In an attempt to utilize the small meals theory of dieting, I am trying to have at least one food consuming unit consist of fruit (banana, soy, carrot shake, or apple with PB)
One must be protein
Only one can be exclusively carb
I’m making it mandatory to drink at least one 20 oz water bottle a day
No eating anything other then veggies after 8
Side notes:
Turkey is basically god to me know. I have a huge bag of leftovers (thanks mom) and it is probably the happiest site to see when opening my fridge.
My pants are tight…..grr. I’m a little mad that all of my weight seems to gravitate to my stomach and the little patch between my thighs as to achieve optimum fatness. Though I am willing to accept it goes to other places as well and I just don’t notice till it gets here, but still.
My birthday is this weekend, tucked ever so snugly between the bouts of depression and manic panic episodes that is law school finals. So this week is for me a race to that ultimate finish line. Plus people being forced to make me their primary concern for a day couldn’t have come at a better time
Am trying to keep thoughts high and keep taking deep breaths. All I have to do is keep on track. So with any luck on the 18th when this hot tranny mess is all over I will be a 23 year old, successful collegiate with no more pimples and a great ass.
