I dig Veggies!!!

Ok So on the cool things Alexandra has found front, I just became a fan of Alex and Ani and their clever but not really “hippie” eco-friendly fashion. It’s so nice to see designers in all facets of fashion rejecting this eco-friendly is for hippies look and making cutting edge style that someone with a more preppie-tastic sense of style like myself.
(see also Leanne from Project Runway: http://www.leanimal.com/#/collections/fall2009)
I have always thought it was unfair that just because I am a bit preppie in style I would then have to give up all of my hippie sensibilities. This leads me to two important things I think need discussing:
1. thank heaven for eco-friendly chic: Ever since eco-friendly, non-carbon footprint-leaving sensibilities have become vogue we have seen many designers, magazines etc, starting to enjoy the world of sustainable fabrics, metals and issue-free gems. And I begs the question, why did it even take so long. I suppose it’s a testament to the power of media and popular culture. I don’t know that the link is so cut and dry but if I have to guess there is a fair amount of evidence to support the idea that
a population faced with the repercussions of its own dependence on oil and non-sustainable items
+
films like Blood Diamond (Gems), what happened to the Electric Car, An Inconvenient Truth (Environment), and dare we say The Lorax (your time has come Suess)
=
a culture with more vested interest in buying smart.
All we need now is more supportive films, tv and popular reading, especially to support the idea that buying green is accessible to the masses. (ie, not only Yuppies buy green…everyone benefits)
2. are we what we wear? I wonder this because in writing this I realize that maybe a environment loving, fresh veggie eating, small business supporting, solar-powered home dream building hippie like myself shouldn’t dress like she owns a yacht. (not that I dress THAT preppie but still. It’s a slippery slope)

I’ll have to ponder this and get back to you, but I suppose my closing question is:
“If people’s first impression of you is your appearance and what you wear, is it wrong to not use this tool to inform them of the type of person you are? In other words, is a hippie in conservatives clothing dishonest?”

diamond cutting butt cheeks

Ok so I went shopping with Kate the other day and I was a gas. Yes I said it was a gas. She had a gift certificate so we went to try on things. And since she was trying on things I thought….hey whats the harm in me tryingthings on too….you know….for moral support. Well the anser is there is a big harm. A monumental harm. Epic!!!!

I feel in love

Love?

Yes love.

With who?

With a dress. (see polyvore set)

Keep in mind that this set only allowed me to choose the dress in red, while my heart truly belongs to the one in grey/black. Not only is it a perfect dress to complement my wide shoulders but it makes me look skinny

Skinny?

Yes skinny.

In other news: I started that slim in 6 program. My significant other’s mother tried it and lost 4” in four weeks so I thought what the hell. Well it is hell. The kind of hell that manifests itself if your upper thigh muscles and makes you feel like the tin man pre-oilcan. But I am hopeful. And as a plus my butt muscles also hurt so I may be able, in six weeks time, to cut diamonds with my ass.

Your ass?

Yes my ass.

He and I, meanwhile have had our 10 month anniversary and while we were discussing how scary that is for us, and the terrifying prospect that we could be the “one” for each other he dropped this on me:
“I have one that will really get you”
“oh yea”
“this time five years from now we will probably be married and thinking about kids. And that’s just a little more time then it takes to complete and undergraduate degree”

aAhhhhhhhhhhahahahahah

and what is worse is that sounds pretty good to me

ahahahahahahah

though this will mean working past our date movie dilema. apparently I am not allowed to choose date movies anymore. The first time I picked a movie called "Blackout" (I think) because Aiden Gillen was in it and I find him to be a telented and interesting actor. well about half way through a scene where he is molesting a women with his salt covered self (you know, the way you do), Chris let me know his disapproval. This was not any better when we watched Donkey Punch at my suggestion. while the movie was fantastic, it was not really as sexy as it sounded to be suitable for a stay in movie night. suffice to say I am temporarily banned from movie night selections.

Other then that life is pretty plain. I have a slew of exciting things lined up for the weekend which I am excited about. I am going to hit W. Hartford with Kate, always a good time. and then it is off to south Norwalk for the SoNo art festival. I cannot wait.

Well I suppose that is all for now

(PS. by all means go check out Donkey Punch it was actually quite good)

Dear blog…..I’m trying to stop this never posting to you because that is not what friends do.

So today…what do I have to report?
- the gym was closed. Grrr. This makes working out a touch harder as I can not get on the elliptical, I don’t have the motivation to hit my goals by just running, and now I’m feeling lazy and have to work up the energy to do pilates.
- On the plus side I think the work is finally working
- Had breakfast with the boyfriend….dennys….grand slam. Maybe a backwards step. but such a tasty one
- Crashed his meeting with his E-board last night…well I was asked so technically it wasn’t crashing. But I have high hopes for them for the following reasons: 1. they are all boys reducing the average drama factor by at least 30%..2. they have a very unified, lets go make magic attitude and 3. we all went drinking after the meeting. Yes it will be a good year.
- I hate dumb people. Some 79 year old ass bag honked at me for not taking a right turn on a corner with a light and a no turn on red sign. Yeah….this has been my day. PS. People in Springfield mass drive like they have no will to live.
- I like pie…..I should make some
- I did a very girl thing and picked out my wedding dress.....see above.....it's shameful but the dress is sooooooo cute...thinking of making a wedding dress box to save my pennies in. It's a vera wang so it will take a lot of pennies

Ok I think that is all for now. tty soon blog!!!

XOXO…..gossip girl

Black card dream shopping

Ok so I haven’t written in a while and this will not be an entry to remember but I am writing to post yet another polyvore set, this time with important self estem reasons. I have recently put on god awful amounts of weight and this polywore set will help keep me motivated at the gym. Why?

Well for one: I am more then kindof obsessed with the 70’s look seen here. My mom rocked it in the 70’s early 80’s and I have taken many a fashion queue from it.

Another: this very cute outfit will not fit my fat tummy (thanks again for mom for giving me the “I only gain weight in the belly like a beer drinking old man” gene…yeah thanks for that)

So: if I fall in love with an outfit as cute as this I can dream about myself rocking it while I both literally and proverbially break my ass on the elliptical….wish me luck

And take note of the side outfit where I quite garishly allow myself to wear Christian Louboutin shoes, with a Jimmy Choo clutch and YSL necklace. Got to love that dream shopping!! Note also that it is paired with a cheap as hell shirt that is very cute. Why? Because even in the dream world of unlimited dream shopping where I shop with a black card made of dreams…..I am still cheap

Good night and good luck

Don’t become a statistic

Ok so I read in an article in the NYTimes that blogging is dying out, and many blogs, after attracting young hopefulls with dreams of sponsorship and blogging income, are abandoned. Imagine my horror when I logged on just now and saw that my last log in was in May.

So here are the updates:
1. I just got back from the Bahamas and it was amazing. Like AMAZING. I am tan, relaxed and ready to go back
2. I did my internship for a law firm and I have to say I loved it. It was very rewarding and I got a chance to go to a multitude of courts. All and all an amazing experience
3. I have a near deadly cooking bug at present. Today I made a life changing sandwich (fired egg on top of a whole grain ciabatta crostini with olive oil, parmesan, tomato sauce and garlic) OMFG, as in oh my foodie god. My next gastronomic adventure may be sushi. I have always wanted to make my own and I think I have just enough culinary bravado at present to think I won’t just end up with $30 in wasted Asian vinegars and spices and an unintentional facial mask of sticky rice. Wish me luck. If it works I promise to post pictures.
4. this leads me to another problem: I am officially annoyed with the food network. Can we talk about how in the 24 hours of programming these bitches are churning out daily, there is not a single show aimed at my target demographic. I’, in my early 20’s, love to cook but am not that experienced with it, live alone in a wintsy apartment and have no money. I am far from a minority, so where is the show that demonstrates basic cooking technique aimed at those who can’t cook but not for lack of skill and don’t have the dough to spend a lot of money on ingredients. Instead we have niche-cooking shows focused on one type of cuisine (ie, giada (who gave us the aforementioned sandwich) and Mario batalli for Italian as an example) or Rachael ray making 87 versions of mac and cheese or burgers like her audience is a bunch of backward, pan hating nimrods with no taste buds (ok that was angry…I hate her. This is mostly because I could have her job,. She was never a chef, like me and between us girls I think I can cook better) Don’t be fooled…..she totally eats French gourmet every night…I know it!! Maybe I should quit law school and start a cooking show.
5. My boyfriend is basically the best boyfriend on earth. I fell in love with a pair of shoes (see previous posts) but sadly could not purchase them. And then about a week ago, as a present for our anniversary/ to show me that he was proud of me for finishing my first year of law school, he bought them for me. I squealed when I saw him, not only because I wanted them, but because he was so sweet to listen to my aimless rambles about shoes, and to treat me like a princess even though I don’t ask to be. I LOVE HIM!!!!!
6. oh finished my first year of law school
7. ok that’s enough for now. Sorry I have neglected you blog.

pain = fashion

ok so here is another outit I built around the shoes I am in love with. This is just hours after finishing my first final which suuuucked. it was con law, so I was the most prepared and its a great subject, but grrraaahh why? Whoever decided there should be finals should have there pants lighten on fire and put out with a 2x4 full of rusty nails. but that's just me. hey let's end months of arduous study with a single test that is the only thing standing between you and any semblince of success at this hotmess you call a profession.

so here is my set, built on a foundation of pain and horror.

me want now!!

I just feel hard and madly in love with a pair of shoes. They are incredible and I love them . here is the outfit I’ve built around them

sadly they are not mine. nor will they likely be. they are &70 and that is more then I should really pay. but alas I still pine for them
